Pirith at The Abode 

We join local people in the Knuckles Mountains to celebrate the start of 2013 by way of a Buddhist Pirith.

This ancient night long ritual performed by village elders is calming, magical and above all shared by the community.

Buddhist New Year in April 2010 saw us being invited to a cricket tournament high in the Knuckles Mountains at The Abode. Read all about the game as it is played between 13 village teams on a very hot day.

In October 2008, the Geographical Magazine (November 2008 edition) published an article about The Abode Trust written by Jinni Reddy. It includes photos by the internationally famous photographer, Luke Douggleby, who spent two days in the summer with Sid walking the area and took about 300 pictures. In April 2009 the Ethical Travel Guide came out and we are included. It describes the tours we offer to The Abode in the Knuckles Mountains feature and the way in which we use the proceeds from those tours to help maintain the local way of life in the mountain villages.
